Enyeama scoops Ligue 1 award

Nigeria and OSC Lille Metropole custodian Vincent Enyeama, has been voted the Ligue 1 player of the month of October by the French National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP).



Enyeama, who as in goal as Nigeria picked up a World Cup ticket against Ethiopia last weekend beat the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani to scope the monthly award.

The former Hapoel Tel Aviv shot stopper will receive his award on Sunday when his team Lille, lock horns with Toulouse in a Ligue 1 encounter.

Enyeama who has been in imperious form this season raked up 71 percent of the votes ahead of Ibrahimovic who scored 19 percent and Cavani who had 10 percent of the votes.

The 31 year old was also listed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as one of the nominees for the 2013 African Footballer of the year to cap a wonderful year for the former Enyimba FC goalkeeper.

He has kept 11 clean sheets from 13 league appearances, and he is in line to beat PSG's Salvatore Sirigu's record of 948 minutes as Enyeama is currently on 765 minutes without conceding.
